Chinese surnames and true meanings? 何 is a surname (according to my book) but it also means -who/what/how- Can I use it as -who/what/how- or is there some other pronunciation needed? I believe I can but Chinese is a difficult language so I want to be sure of everything I learn! Thanks for any responses.

you are right, it can be used as -who/what/how/why/where-, but it must be used with other word, like 为何（wei he）,means 'why', 几何（ji he）means how many。。。 the pronunciation 何（he）

Chinese surnames don't mean anything， but when it comes to the characters， you're right
