How can we call the soccer player who has the number of 8 on his T-shirt in English? How can we call the soccer player who has the number of 8 on his T-shirt in English? I think we call: "The 8th soccer player". Is that right ? Many thanks.

You can say "number 8 of that team" or "number 8 player." If you say the 8th soccer player then that sounds like the players are in some type of order which is not true. People will understand what you are trying to say but it is unnatural.
