Forbidden areas are places where unauthorized people are not allowed. A forbidden area could be anything from a scientific laboratory where only scientists are allowed to a military camp where only military personnel is allowed entrance. Off-limits areas are labeled such because they are beyond designated limits to some group. For example, bars and pubs are often off-limits to underages, but if you are not underage then that place would not be off-limits to you. A restricted area is the same than a forbidden area, except that "restricted" doesn't sound as commanding as "forbidden". Restricted means "limited" and forbidden means "prohibited". An example of a restricted and forbidden area is famous military base Area 51. A roped-off area is one delimited by a rope. When a crime occurs, police ropes off the crime scene so that only police and detectives be allowed. Keep out areas are the same than restricted and forbidden areas. Keep out means "stay out", so you may see signs that say something like "Restricted/forbidden area. Keep out"
