"Take" = antar, ambil dan jemput
Ambil = object
Jemput = person
Antar = person
I'm not clear on the difference between usage of jemput and antar. Can a clear distinction be easily made?

Take (object) (to get into one's hand) = mengambil (the root is ambil)
E.g. :
I want to take the book. = Saya ingin mengambil buku itu.
Take (vehicles) = naik/mengendarai
E.g.
I will take the bus to go to John's house = Saya akan naik bus untuk pergi ke rumah John.
Take (person) (accompany or guide someone to a specified place) = mengantar (the root is antar)
E.g.
I will take you to the market = Saya akan mengantarmu/ Anda ke pasar
I don't think 'jemput' is equivalent to 'take'.
Jemput means to pick (somebody) up.
E.g.
Jemput saya di sekolah jam 2 siang. = Pick me up at school at 2 pm.
Hope that helps. :)

Jemput: to pick up (to take someone/something FROM a particular place)
example: saya menJEMPUT pacar saya di rumahnya
Antar : it can be both for person and object : to deliver (to take someone/something TO a particular place)
example: Laki-laki itu mengantarkan dompet saya yang terjatuh di taman

Hi keith, I'm native speaker of Indonesia and learning English. I think we can share our knowledges each other. I'd love to share about Indonesian with you! :).
"Ambil" is used for Objects and "Jemput" is used for person but "Antar" it can be both ( object and person ).
Jemput = pick up.
Antar = Delivering something to someone (Object) or escorting someone to a place (Person).
