difference between the word commonality and similarity? What are the difference between the word commonality and similarity? For example, which word, should I use to compare two objects/persons/things?

They are synonyms. In my experience, similarity is used more often particularly in conversation or casual situations. Commonality sounds more academic to me, but that might be different for other people.
