the phrase "schedule for" Schedule him for lunch next Friday. Does "schedule for" mean to arrange something for doing something?

Yes it does. It can also mean a few other things but the word "schedule" remains the same Let me check my schedule. I'm booked all day, can we reschedule for next week? This weeks schedule is full. I am calling to schedule an appointment. Have a great one. Follow me if you can find time to do it according to your schedule, ha!

To me in this context, as a verb, "to schedule" someone or something means to put on the calendar. To schedule something or someone can include the arranging part of the process but it must also the final objective of agreeing on time and place and recording those details somewhere, if not on a calendar at least in your mind. I tried to schedule Tennis lessons for Wednesday afternoon, but I could not, so I scheduled them for Friday morning.
