Is "ma femme" the correct way to say "my wife"?
When looking up the French translation for "my wife" I get "ma femme". I just want to make sure this is how native speakers say it. The literal translation would be "my woman" would it not?

Ma femme est correct. Il y a plusieurs façons de le faire.
Ma femme est utilisé de manière générale, marié ou pas.
Mon épouse implique forcément un mariage
Ma compagne ou ma concubine implique une situation hors mariage.
Mon ex-femme lorsque l'on veut parler d'une ancienne relation de mariage.
Il est vrai que femme est aussi utilisé pour décrire une personne de sexe féminin. Il y a aussi "femme de chambre", "femme de ménage"...
