The second option is incorrect. We always wait *for* something, or we simply just "wait". E.g. I am waiting for the bus. Will you wait for me? What are you waiting for? No thanks, I'll just wait. Sit there and wait. You'll just have to wait.

You need the "for" with wait, so the first is better. Normally, we would use a different word order: I really cannot wait for our upcoming meeting.
