what is meridian in English ?
while reading about measuring the earth's circumference i found that word "meridian" which I don't know which of the words :
" latitude" which is the angular distance of a place north or south of the earth's equator, or
" longitude" which is the angular distance of a place east or west of the Greenwich ,
it refers to or is it something else ?

"a circle of constant longitude passing through a given place on the earth's surface and the terrestrial poles."

The Greenwich meridian is zero degrees longitude.
