Hi. I think it to be very useful to watch a movies what are very popular among russian people. Such films have very important influence to culture and mentality. If you know those movies you will better understand our mind. For example: Обыкновенное чудо, Белое солнце пустыни, Ирония судьбы, или С легким паром! и другие. Это старые фильмы прошлого века. Unfortunatly, I don't watch modern russian movies and I can't advice them

it will be very difficult to study because lot of "slang".I would recommend to start with the period of the Soviet Union (books,songs,movies).It's more simple and literacy.
