Which Is Correct I gave up studying textbooks ever since I read Hesse's works in high school. I gave up studying textbooks ever since I had read Hesse's works. I had given up studying textbooks ever since I read Hesse's works. Thanks

The first one is correct because "gave" and "read" are in the same tense.

The first one is correct but I think it would be better to say "I gave up studying textbooks after reading Hesse/Hesse's works in high school." If you want to know how to use ever since I'd write "Ever since I read Hesse in high school I stopped studying textbooks."
