What would we say? When you decide to stop doing something, what should we say? give up or leave off or another option. Here is an example about what I mean: Example: "I played football so much 3 years ago but when I decided to go to university, I suddenly gave it up/ left it off/ETC" Thanks in advance.

'Gave it up' is the correct phrase here. 'Left it off' would be wrong - it has no meaning in this context.
