Meaning / using of "such" Can someone explain me the using of the word "such" please? It seems it has some different meaning but I don't get how to use it yet. I saw things like "such a great idea" for example but I would like to be abble to use it too. Thanks in advance!

"Such" is a hard word to explain. It's one of those words you just have to get a feel for. It can be like "tant que" and "tel," "tellement," "comme" and "ce genre de." Here are some various examples. That was such a hard test! (that test was so hard) That is such a great idea. (that really is a good idea - your example!) Such people are annoying. (those kind of peopole are annoying) Such is life (life is like that) Such a pleasure to meet you (it was really a pleasure to meet you - like the good idea above) I never did such a thing (I never did a thing like that)

We sometimes use it like "tellement" to add weight: It's such a pity that he couldn't go on the trip with us. It was such a relief to hear from them after the earthquake. I didn't think I would learn such a difficult language as French!
