what's the difference between ''For the past weeks'' and ''For the last weeks'' ?
My friends asked me why I was not hanging out with them a lot like before, I want to say that I've been working so much. But I don't know when to use ''for the past ...'' and ''for the last...'' , or which one is correct.
I've been busy for the past (few) weeks.
I've been busy for the last (few) weeks.
My schedule got tight for the last/past weeks.
I've got a pretty tight schedule for the past days/last days/in these days.
Any suggestions are welcome. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

I don't think I would find a problem with using either "last" or "past" as long as you added "few".
For example:
"I've been busy the last/past weeks" sounds incomplete and might get you funny looks
"I've been busy the last/past few weeks" sounds complete

I prefer to state as below:
I've been busy for the past few weeks.
I've been busy in the last week.
Please correct me if i am wrong, thanks in advance!
