보통, 원래, 대개 and 평소
- 보통(a, adv): generally, by and large, usually, commonly. Ordinary, average, typical (a).
- 대개(adv): generally, by and large, most likely. = 대체로, 대부분.
- 원래(adv): originally. Used to be. = 본래.
- 평소(n): Normal times, ordinary times. 평소에(adv): At normal times, ordinarily, usually.
- 한국 사람들은 보통 [대개, 대부분] 쌀을 주식으로 생활한다.
=> Koreans generally live on rice as their staple food.
- 보통 사람들이 행복한 세상을 만들자.
=> Let's build a world where ordinary people are happy.
- 대도시들은 대개 [보통, 대체로, 대부분] 강이나 바닷가에 있다.
=> Large cities are typically situated by a river or by the sea.
- 요즘의 영화는 대개 [대부분] 스릴러들이다.
=> Recent movies are mostly thrillers.
- 난 원래[본래] 술을 못 마셔요.
=> I cannot drink (alcohol) by nature = I have never been able to drink.
- 이곳은 원래[본래] 공장이 있던 곳이다.
=> This place is where a factory used to be originally.
- 난 평소엔 놀다가 시험 바로 전에 벼락 공부를 한다.
=> I normally loaf around, then cram like crazy just before the exams.
- 생일과 명절 때만이 아니라 평소에 가족에게 잘해라.
=> Be good to your family at normal time, not only birthdays and holidays.
