is there any difference between "send a gift" and "give a gift" ?
For example, when a husband and his wife live together, and the husband buys her a bunch of rose for her birthday. could we say "he sends flowers to his wife for her birthday".
according to my dictionary, "sending a gift" means delivering the gift by mail ? So we should say "give a gift", rather than "send a gift" when we are together.
am I right ?

to send = to have someone else deliver it for you (friend, mailman, etc.)
"to give" implies you give it to her personally, but if you send a gift to her, you have still "given" her a gift in the broad sense of the word.
