That being said..
Can anyone give an example of how to use "that being said" and "having said that" in a sentence? I am not 100% sure how to use these two phrases.
Thanks in advance!

Think of a situation where the answer (or the official truth) is one thing, but something else is also true. We use it especially to explain that there is an exception to a rule, or when we have two opinions about something.
You feel it's important to say the first thing, but you want to say the second thing too. So, after you have said it, we use these phrases to indicate that we want to say another thing.
- When I was 14, my English teacher used to tell me to NEVER begin a sentence with "because" and I teach my students the same thing. Having said that, there are certain situations where it's OK.
- I shouldn't go out with Nancy because of X, Y and Z. All that being said, she is a lot of fun!

These two phrases are normally used in between statements that contradict, or when the second statement doesn't agree with the first.
Eg.
Roses are usually red. That [being] said, they are also…
Or
I like turtles. Having said that, I will now proceed to show…
It is akin to saying "however" or "but".

"...that being said" usually means that despite the apparent disadvantages to something/a situation, there are perceivable advantages:
.... House prices in London are extraordinarily high and many people feel forced into moving away in order to be able to afford to buy the house of their choice. That being said, there is no better place than central London to enjoy quicker gains to property value.
"...having said that" can be used as the opposite. "He bought a beautiful house in a very nice part of the country because he was tired of the demands of city living. Having said that, he has to commute well over two hours to get to work each morning."

I personally avoid using “that being said” or “having said that”.
This is purely a matter of style. I find them both ugly and unnecessary.
It’s not because I’m not a native speaker of English that I feel that way, because an expression similar to “that being said” exists in Danish and I equally dislike the Danish version.
