What does "spuse" mean ? What does "spuse" mean in the following sentence? El privi atent, apoi spuse: - Nu! Asta este deja foarte bolnavă. Fă alta. I guess "spuse" is third person simple perfect form of "spune". As I know, the simple perfect tense is rarely used in Romanian. What is the usage of the simple perfect tense here?

Perfect simple is used especially in one region in Romania (Oltenia). This ”spuse” means the action was recently ended. (”He just said” can be an approximate translation). However, in the most part of the country, in everyday language, is used ”a spus” (past tense). This perfect simple is also used in books (novels for example).
