Shame generally means two things. It can mean something is regrettable or a pity. Something you wish wasn't so. Example: It is a shame we can't see each other today. The other meaning is dishonor or humiliation and can be used as a noun or verb. Examples: He felt shame after he argued with his girlfriend in public. The teacher shamed the student for speaking in class. We only use ashame in the past participle form, ashamed. Example: If I don't get to work on time I will be ashamed of myself.

First there is no word in English 'ashame' ashamed is an adjective it describes a feeling. 'Shame' is a noun and 'a shame' and 'the shame' are nominal nouns referring to loss of esteem or feelings of humiliation. ''It's a shame we can't see each other today." Is more of an expression of regret and used like that does not express deeper feelings of embarrassment, humiliation etc. Present tense. I shame our family' You shame our family She shames our family We shame our family You shame our family They shame our family For Future tense use 'will' before shame, example "I will shame our family." Etc. For past use 'shamed' , example, "she shamed our family". For compound tenses use 'shamed' as the past participle, example, "You would have been shamed by her behaviour." Hope that helps.

I almost forgot. I think what a pity sounds better than what a shame but they mean the same. Cheers! =D

Hello Shinhye! Yes, you can use "Oh, what a shame" in that situation when you and your friend cannot meet. You may also use "What a pity" to express the same thing: regret or disappointment. More examples: It's a pity that we can't have our camping today because of the rain. A: I lost my wallet and all the important ID's in it. B. What a pity! I hope someone finds it and return it to you. I hope those help. Good luck! ^^
