butcher the name I've watched a video and the guy said 'I am sure I am going to butcher his name' and then screwed up pronouncing an actor's name. Is this phrase commonly used and what else can you butcher other than meat?

This phrase is commonly used when English speakers try to pronounce words or names in another language when the speaker knows that he or she is going to badly mispronounce the word. You could also say, "I"m going to mangle this name." In addition to cutting dead animals for meat, the verb "to butcher" can also be used when describing violently killing humans, usually in warfare and with a very negative connotation. Example: "The soldiers butchered the innocent civilians." "The Butcher" can also be used as a pejorative nickname for very violent people. The American press called Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Osama Bin Laden's former lieutenant, "The Butcher of Baghdad."
