the word "tap" and "hit"
As I know, one meaning of the word "tap" is "hitting sth lightly", while "hit" means "tough sth with great force." Well, I saw a question relating to this today, and the question equalized "hit" and "tap". So was born my confusion: is there big difference between the two word?
Thank you so much if you could answer my question.

"Tap" IS lighter than "hit".
You tap someone on the shoulder, for example, as a way of attracting their attention: this does not hurt. If you hit someone on any part of their body, this will hurt them to some extent.
You should believe what your dictionary tells you.
