I have a problem with 닥쳐오다. Well, the sentence goes: Great hunger from the very start but what's with 닥쳐오다? How does it change the sentence? What does it mean? I tried to look it up but failed. Please, help me!

닥쳐오다 means "come quickly to nearer site or time point".  닥쳐오다 and 닥치다 have the similar meaning.
