''Admit onto'' or ''Admit into'' or ''Admit to'' (something)? ''He has been admitted to our group.'' ''He has been admitted onto our group.'' ''He has been admitted into our group.'' What is the difference between the sentences above? Thank you in advance.

sentence 1 and 3 mean the same thing for the most part. sentence 2 the preposition onto doesn't work in this context.
