The expression "swear at you"
hi, people!!
Does the expression "swear at you" have two meanings?
I have heard this expression in a 90's music We All Need Love (Double You). The man promises so much getting children with a woman. But, I also saw that when someone had reclaimed due to the disrespect suffered. It remembers "swear words".
Can somebody explain me, please?
Thanks!!

Hi , yes it has more than one meaning.
1-curse - bad words
He swore at me.
Don't swear in front of children.
2-promise
I swore to do something for her.
I swear that I will buy you the car.
3-state the truth
I didn't go there , I swear.

It either means a strong promise ( I swear to you I will give look after your children) or it means using ugly, unsociable words (the sailor swears a lot, but never in front of old ladies.)
