私はちょっとだけ (少しだけ) 日本語が話せます。I can speak a little bit of Japanese.
when you say , 話せます、it means I CAN speak or I am capable to speak. when you say, 話します。I speak, which is not wrong and people will understand your sentence as well but it sounds like you are "choosing" to speak a little bit Japanese. I hope this helps!

And also in addition,
「ありがとう」is used when youre very close to the listener or you know that person very well like friends, parents etc.
「ありがとうございます」is a proper way of saying "thank you" in Japan especially when you met a person for the first time or if the person/listener is higher status like teachers, bosses, prime ministers etc.
I hope it helps you a lot and when you visit Japan, please be careful of your words. 頑張ってください!!(^^)
