difference between 'HORDE' and 'THRONG'
when talking about a lot of people

horde
- large crowd: a large group of people
- nomadic group: a group of nomads, especially of a people who live by hunting and foraging for food hunter-gatherers
- swarm or pack: a large group of insects or other animals...
throng
- crowd: a large crowd of people or objects
- crowd into place: to crowd into or fill a place
- move in crowd: to move or gather in a throng
- crowd around somebody: to surround and push against somebody
when talking about a lot of people:
horde is a large group of people
throng is a large crowd of people

They essentially both mean a large gathering. However, the term 'horde' is usually used to describe a gathering of bad people, while the word 'throng' could be used for a gathering of either good or bad people.
