what's the actual meaning of this ((((((Uncontrollable surge)))??
I got Uncontrollable surge from IELTS Cambridge Book.the full sentence is......if a laser could generate a line of ionisation in the air all the way up to a storm cloud, this conducting path could be used to guide lightening to earth, before the electric field becomes strong enough to break down the air in an uncontrollable surge .

Do you have more surrounding context. Have you copied it correctly.
A common expression is an "uncontrollable urge" to describe emotional things and excitement.
The writer could be saying they got an excitable urge to read more and more to learn more and more after obtaining the book.
However the person/writer could be trying to describe the fact that the book helped them, but that would only make sense if the word uncontrollable was removed.
"I got a huge surge forward in my learning/understanding from the IELTS Cambridge book"

Dude. I am college educated and Im not exactly sure what this sentence is trying to say.
But, an “uncontrollable surge“ means there is an increase of something that cannot be controlled and it is too much.
Let’s say for example you were standing in front of a water dam. If the dam were to break suddenly, there would be an “uncontrollable surge” of water heading to you.
