"I'm going to go home." is not wrong. It is immediate future tense. "I'm going home." is present progressive tense. I want to go home. = speaks of your desire/intention of going home. I will go home. = speaks of your future action. I am going to go home. = it should be "I'm going home." = speaks of your current action (what you're doing now). :)
