Is there a Chinese word or saying equivalent to home truths? (I told her a few home truths) Is there a Chinese word or saying equivalent to ' home truths' ie: I told her a few home truths and she didn't like it. Just to be clear home truths is not used in a positive way really. home truths refers to telling someone things about them as a person that they wont like to hear and maybe wont believe or will get cross about.

埋藏在心底的不满、压抑在心里的真实想法、憋在心里的疙瘩、肺腑之言、等等。有很多很多的表达方式。根据语境应用。 I told her a few home truths and she didn't like it. 我把压抑在心里的一些对她的不满(意见/看法/真实想法)告诉了她,她听了很不高兴。

let me make a guess 令人難堪的事? 令人不自在的話? 令人發窘的狀況? 一樁糗事? 尷尬的局面? 感覺彆扭的事?

我同意kaly "老生常谈",or "陈词滥调" by the context , I guess, what you told her was that maybe you have told her for hundred times ,so it sound like a cliche and she was tired of listening to you. is that right? in that case, I think a Chinese four-word-phrase "老生常谈"/"陈词滥调" will be the best expression for it. sample : 他的话就是老生常谈,没有点新鲜玩意儿,大家都听烦了。

there might be. for your example, it could be expressed as '逆耳之言' there is another saying for this: 忠言逆耳 btw, 'home truth' should be translated into chinese according to the context. sometimes, it is equivalent to '真理' or '至理' or '铁定的事实'
