I came across an article online about an interesting tidal power generation system and would like to share it here. They are tidal power generation systems developed by a company in Switzerland. They are called "Dragon 12" and is shaped is like a glider. They have been placed in the Faroe Islands, Denmark and was rolled out in February, 2024. The "Dragon 12" has a 12 meter wing-span and weighs 28 ton. It generates power from its rotating turbines when it is drifting in the sea. The company states that the system can generate 1.2 Mega Watts[MW] per the device. The method of power generation is as follows: 1) The device is tied to a cable fixed under the sea. 2) It moves around in a figure eight pattern with lift generated by an ocean current and a tidal current with slow speed. The goal is for the whole Faroe Islands to be powered by renewable energy by 2030. The amount of power needed is between 30MW and 70MW. There is the Naruto whirl tides near my city. I think this technology can be applied to the Naruto whirl tides too. If it is possible, we can get renewable energy by the same generation system too. I really hope they start a validation test in Japan as well.
