Imagine what students will obtain and who they are going to be if they only learn
academic knowledge. Will they be wiser, more successful and people who
can really live up to our expectations? It's hard to guarantee. As far as I'm
concerned, "learning academic knowledge" is important but not the most important
task for students. Although the students can acquire a wealth of knowledge, they might
find it difficult to get along with others, or even themselves, when it comes to more
complicated circumstance in their lives. Furthermore, it's a total waste
of time if students have no idea of why they are studying, who they truly are and what
they are going to be, but instead just study the whole day to please teachers as
well as parents. Of course, many people insist that "learning academic
knowledge" can change our life paths and regard it as the pinnacle of achievement.
However, they haven't realized that a person who changed his/her life through
knowledge did it on the basis of knowing whom he/she was and what he/she wanted.
Without the deep understanding of ourselves, the life and the world, how can we
accomplish our own dreams through the knowledge we learned? Thus, it's
fundamental to encourage students to know who they are, what they are going to be, how
to communicate with people around them and then teach them how to acquire knowledge
themselves. Moreover, learning from mistakes and life is as necessary as
learning academic knowledge. To be an intelligent person in the face of choices
and someone who perseveres when facing adversity are important attributes
students need to foster as well. In a nutshell, there's nothing wrong with
"learning" itself, but why should great importance be attached to “learning and learning what" (not sure what you mean by “learning and learning what”)
