Kathakali is a classical dance of Kerala, India. It draws inspiration from the Ramayana (a mythological story). Kathakali is traditionally performed by boys and men, even for female roles. Nowadays, even females participate. The costumes and makeup are very elaborate. The faces look like painted masks, and dancers wear enormous headdresses.
