According to my dictionary it is a change, probably for the worse.

I had to look up this word. I have never heard it before. I'm a native English speaker. It means a change that is unpleasant or unwelcome. Do you have an example of it used in a sentence? There might be more natural ways to say what you want to say because vicissitude is not an everyday word.
