Korea trip 2014
This year I'll be heading towards Korea again and this time I'm even more excited than last time. Many more friends to meet and one in particular whom I have waited a long time to meet. This one person is precious to me, as I have realized she is filling a void that has existed for more than a decade. I have a lot to get off my chest and mind. Also looking towards to having the barrier in my mind rebuilt again. I am so fortunate to have so many good friends that I can meet this summer.

Almost done with my education
I am almost done with my education now. I have passed my final internship and I was so fortunate at being able to teach English the way I exactly wanted to. This makes me even more confident at being able to teach my language partners on Italki. Sure I might not be a native speaker, but I got approaches and methods that ensures learning, which only those that have completed a teaching education has.
So if any of my language partners are reading this, then I suggest you to stick with me ;)

Which approach do you prefer?
This is for all those who have actual knowledge about teaching English. Which approach do you prefer and which one do you actually use most in the classroom? Be honest^^
Steven Krashen: Comprehensible Input
Michael Long: Modified Interaction
Merrill Swain: Comprehensible Output
I like the idea and concept of Swain and her Comprehensible Output hypothesis. Yet for me I think I use Comprehensible Input more, as it makes for the traditional classroom setting and we tend to use it as safety net when the pupils struggle with getting a conversation going. What's your opinion?

Teaching and my future
These days I am making some major discoveries. I am witnessing how my belief in "X" approach to teaching English is working well, and it makes me believe that I should indeed pursue my dream of trying to make a new "golden" approach to ESL, EFL, ESOL and EAL.
Secondly I am realizing that for the first time in many years, I might actually be able to get what I really desire and need in my life. Yet it would be a total new chapter in my life, so while I am excited about the prospect of getting what I want, then I am scared about pursuing it with all my heart because it means parting with everything I know.

Finding time as a korean
After a year I have gotten quite a few korean friends and I noticed they all have the same thing in common... There is no such thing called free time! it is practically impossible to sit down for 30 minutes and have an conversation over skype or a simple written chat with them. out of 15 maybe only one has freetime, the rest are always busy. I'm wondering what kind of a world that is where you don't even have time for catching up with a friend.
How can one survive in that kind of culture without getting stress?

A deal is a deal!
A deal is a deal. I like this expression and the meanings it have, in addition how much one can reflect upon it.
I have never been fond of making deals with friends that involve money or other things that may be regarded as payment, since if the deal is not kept then it will eventually put a strain on the friendship as you or the friend proves they cannot be fully trusted.
If a deal passes the deadline then I no longer hold it valid. If I promise someone, something in return for them helping me and allowing them to state the terms of the deal, then I fully expect them to keep it and only a very good reason would allow me to extend it. So when they do not hold up their end of the deal I no longer feel obliged towards my end of it. And it makes me wonder... How can I 100% trust the word of a friend that disregards a deal easily.

New Italki look
I dislike the new Italki layout, very confusing and less user friendly, any way to change back into the old layout?

Acquaintance or Friend?
When does one know if a person is your friend or a simple acquaintance?
The hard thing is realising that someone you try to keep as a friend in your life have slipped from grasp and has simply become an acquaintance sadly. But it takes two people for a friendship to exist, and when one person shows no interest in talking with the other and never able to find even a little bit of time for that person, then it is only a matter of time before the friendship fades into memory.
But sometimes an acquaintance can become a friend again whether it be a childhood or school friend or someone from another country.
I hope one of my acquaintances becomes a friend again as i miss that person in my life.

caring too much about a friend
Once again I have fallen into the trap of caring too much about a friend. The problem is all the hours spent on talking and being there as support for a friend and giving advice that eventually it changes something inside, so I end up with more then just friendship feelings. And at the same time the friend tells me they found someone... not great to hear since it hurts a lot, but it is not my friend fault since how could she know? I guess I have to work on this in the future so the same thing doesn't happen with new friends and then cut the ties with this person so I can move along and not being hurt emotionally.
Life is all about learning from experiences.
