I have been taking Dr. Taraneh’s Learn to Read and Write in Persian course for just over a month, and I am amazed by how much Farsi I can already read and write. Being able to text my Iranian partner and friends in Farsi has meant the world to me. I have learned more with Dr. Taraneh in one month than I did in nearly nine years of studying on my own. She makes Farsi feel approachable even for complete beginners. Her lessons are comfortable, fun, and stress-free, and she explains difficult concepts clearly. She also tailors her teaching to each student and knows how to challenge you without making you feel overwhelmed. I genuinely look forward to our lessons every week. My only regret is that I didn’t start learning with Dr. Taraneh sooner!

I've been taking classes with Dr. Taraneh for almost a year now and they have been very helpful for my Farsi -- she has been great at targeting the lessons to my level and experience, and balancing introducing new concepts with reinforcing known material. For me they are a mix of question and answer, speaking practice, and learning new grammar or vocab, with great context and examples provided. She is a very patient and encouraging teacher and has helped me identify where I'm making mistakes and how to fix them, and she provides helpful resources and exercises to help me learn. I definitely have become more confident when speaking, writing, and listening to Farsi and I'm able to put together much more complex and varied sentences and talk about a wider range of topics compared to where I was last year. I would definitely recommend Dr Taraneh as a teacher, both to beginners who want to learn Farsi, or students who have experience but want to improve further.

Dr. Taraneh is the best! I truly never thought I would be able to write and read and Persian and now with her patience and knowledge I am finally understanding. She takes the time to create worksheets and quizlets to help me outside of lessons. Each lesson I learn so much and get to practice writing too. She makes sure to check in often to see if I am keeping up. I am so grateful to have her as professor.

Dr. Taraneh is an outstanding teacher. She combines a deep knowledge of linguistics with extensive teaching experience and fluency in both Farsi and English. Her lessons start by systematically stepping through the alphabet, grammar, and pronunciation, clarifying many subtle points of potential confusion, so that I feel confident in my ability to use what I have learned after each lesson. She also mixes bits of historical, cultural, and linguistic interest into her lessons. Overall, I would say that her style is analytical and systematic, with an equal focus on reading, writing, and speaking, which I think is essential for most non-native learners. Finally, she is approachable and patient, even when I am making mistakes all over the place! Highly recommended.

Excellent as always. Prof Taraneh is great at adapting each lesson to my strengths and weaknesses and has a great store of strategies to overcome obstacles. Looking forward to next week!

Prof Taraneh is an excellent teacher and her experience and expertise has been apparent from the beginning. She is very patient, explains things well and seems to know just how much learning I can absorb in each lesson. She uses an excellent textbook but also many other resources such as songs, pictures and readings that make each class engaging, fun, and rewarding. Definitely recommend!
