Halo! I’m Riska—a language lover from Indonesia with roots in Garut’s lush hills and a heart for sharing my culture. Fluent in both Bahasa Indonesia and Sundanese, I help learners unlock these vibrant languages while weaving in local traditions and daily life. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me hiking Bandung’s trails (humming Sundanese folk songs!) or chatting with global friends online. From bustling classrooms to intimate one-on-one sessions, my teaching career has taken me on a diverse and rewarding journey since 2011. I cut my teeth teaching English to both elementary and high school students in a language center, before transitioning to private tutoring from home. Currently, I'm inspiring young minds as a middle school English teacher. I've even had the privilege of introducing international children to the beauty of Bahasa Indonesia. This varied experience has honed my ability to adapt to different learning styles and create engaging lessons for all ages. In our lessons, we'll focus on developing practical conversation and clear pronunciation – essential skills for effective communication. So far I’ve been working with Riska for a couple of weeks and it’s really changed my thoughts on Bahasa Indonesia and on a deeper level, what language is. Although it’s difficult, I am throughly enjoying our conversations and really looking forward to being able to express myself more fully in this interesting and rich language ! Riska is an excellent Sundanese teacher. I highly recommend her for instruction in Indonesian or Sundanese. She is patient, kind, and flexible, and encouraging; even though I’m a total beginner in Sundanese, I feel motivated and confident thanks to her. I learn so much from our lessons, and I love that she goes way above and beyond to create interesting materials for us to review together. Hatur nuhun! 💕
