Raluca is an exceptional French teacher. She’s patient, engaged, and remarkably flexible — able to shape each lesson around whatever direction the conversation takes. Her command of French vocabulary and grammar is masterful, and she can hold a substantive discussion on virtually any topic, always finding the right way to correct, expand, or nuance what I’m trying to express. I recommend her without reservation to anyone serious about advancing their French.

Today, I found myself thinking about the balance between objectivity and subjectivity in writing, and how adjusting that balance might bring the experiences and phenomena we depict closer to the texture of life itself. :)

I shared a part of a scene from my novel with Raluca. Her insights were both precise and profound. She was able to understand my intentions as a writer without needing me to explain further, which really impressed me. What surprised me the most was her ability to connect my writing with other works in literary history. This not only broadened my perspective, but also gave me valuable references to learn from and emulate. The lesson was very relaxed and completely pressure-free. Thank you so much!

Today I learned that, for Proust, consciousness does not operate independently. The body often knows something before the conscious mind does, and the two do not operate according to the same logic.

Raluca always comes prepared with a lovely poem, short story, etc. as a method to teach pronunciation, grammar, and transition. Her instruction also includes cultural and historical context, which further adds to the value!
