Ben

Ben is a fantastic Mandarin teacher from Taiwan. He makes me feel very comfortable speaking Mandarin because of his relaxed and easy-going style. He is always calm, and I can tell he prepares a set of questions to keep the conversation flowing smoothly. This really helps me practice speaking a lot and makes me feel confident. I especially like that he asks many questions and encourages me to talk as much as possible. On top of that, he gives me useful tips, writes down words I don’t know or can’t recall, and helps me improve my pronunciation. Overall, his lessons are engaging, practical, and very motivating.

I had a great first lesson with Ben. He is very charismatic and patient. It was really convenient that he wrote all the words and phrases I didn't know in Hanzi, Pinyin, and English. This makes it easier to integrate into my studies. Great tutor!

Ben is a really wonderful and patient teacher who does an excellent job offering correction while still being very encouraging. Our lessons are mainly focused on advanced conversation, for which he makes extensive use of talk shows, TEDtalks, and other media. He does a really nice job of tailoring lesson content to match your interests, which keeps you engaged and helps you practice communicating your ideas and opinions on issues that are relevant to you. I really appreciate this approach, since it gets learners connected with Chinese-language media that's not pedagogical in nature, which really takes the learning 'out of the classroom', so to speak. Overall, I've really enjoyed working with Ben and would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to learn or practice Chinese!
