I'm James, I come from Nottingham and live in Cologne (Köln). The world is a complex, challenging and fascinating place. I've been learning a language for a few years now and have ended up moving to a different country, you never know where our lessons will take you! I think it is a great thing to do: the interesting details (like new words), the challenge of trying to speak it, and for the new worlds you discover as you learn (music, films, people, politics). I have many interests: reading and learning about the world is a big one, writing, making music and other creative activities (I have a soft spot for football too!) and learning languages of course. Having learned German over the last few years and taught two of my friends some beginners German (I don't speak German well enough to offer lessons here however, I am sorry!), I realised language teaching is something I would like to do for a job. Since my TEFL qualification, I've been teaching students from all over the world, through a refugee organisation and through a TEFL academy to gain experience. I have taught students at all levels and we have covered a lot of material. I want to keep improving as a teacher/language facilitator as I think if you find a job you enjoy you should make the most of it. I offer more in depth lessons or conversation practice.
For conversation practice, we can use our trial lesson to talk about your interests, how you'd like our sessions to go: (eg. discussing themes, role play, using material as a talking point). I will come with plenty of questions and we can discuss how often you'd like your mistakes correcting/explaning. I will always try to give you new ideas, words and phrases!
I also offer structured 'lessons' based on your learning needs.
I will try to find out (via a test/conversation) your level and areas for us to work on. Our lessons might involve reading/listening material, exercises, PowerPoint, role plays, conversation and homeworks.Мой учебный материал

I had 47 wonderful conversations with James. This experience really helped me a lot to improve my English skills and my confidence while speaking. Not to mention that he was the person I spoke to every week during my first year in immigration, which is itself very valuable. James is a great guy and a passionate teacher. I highly recommend him!

James is my teacher for already a while now and I am very happy with him. He supports me a lot in my English exam preparation - so we go through various questions, translations and newspaper articles. I can only recommend him to every English learner (for all levels!)

James is a professional, well-prepared, courteous teacher who listens carefully to his students and adds words and new things when necessary.He has a wide range of knowledge, you can talk to him about many things. He is very kind and gentle teacher.highly recommend!

It was a great first class. I felt very comfortable talking to the teacher. He corrected me, but only when necessary and without disturbing my train of thought. We also discussed the plans for the next lessons.
