I've been a language learner for as long as I can remember. I know how to teach precisely because I have first-hand experience in acquiring a language that's very different from my L1 from scratch, as well as some linguistics training in university. In other words, I'm your teacher as much as I'm your companion in your learning journey. I'd be honored and delighted to help you improve and reach your goal!

Hello and welcome; I'm glad to E-meet you on iTalki! I grew up in Shanghai but spent my formative years in the U.S. I have also lived in Japan and Singapore. I'm a very open-minded and naturally curious person. I'm here because I like to talk about different cultures, ways of life, and language learning. I'd also love to learn something from you and about you!

✨I believe that students should be talking for at least 60% of the lesson time in their target language to get an immersive experience. If you are a beginner, relax and welcome! I will provide the necessary material and guidance before & during class.
✨You will be spoken to in a clear manner and will be encouraged to apply the newly introduced vocabulary and grammar structure right away. I will correct you by repeating the right and/or more idiomatic expression without interrupting the flow of our conversation.
📚I use Google Docs to lesson plan and provide notes, and WordWall to assign optional homework. You are welcome to provide your own learning materials!

I am truly grateful for the remarkable opportunity to learn and converse with Momo. Our discussions, which range across an array of subjects, have been a genuine delight.
The natural flow (more on Momo's side than on mine ;-)) of our conversations , often spontaneous and diverse, has immensely contributed to my progress in learning Chinese.
Our talks, usually in Chinese, have extended beyond language to explore the rich tapestry of cultural distinctions between China and my home country, Germany. This has deepened my appreciation for the intricacies that make our societies unique.
I must express my appreciation for the way our interactions have aided my language journey. Although my primary motivation for learning Chinese was to comprehend Chinese economics and business, these conversations have seamlessly woven into my learning experience.
In essence, my experience with Momo has been invaluable. I look forward to further learning.

Absolutely brilliant. Momo is a very cheerful and friendly teacher. Every lesson with her is wonderful. We talked about our life, work, English learning and other stuff. Her class is super relaxing. There are no difficult questions or stupid answers for her. If you want to be confident or improve your speaking skills, she is the best bet you should have.

Momo is great to work with! very encouraging, knowledgeable, patient, adaptable, and fun! I have studied Mandarin in the past so I didn't need to start at 101, she jumped right into conversation with me and started helping me to build vocabulary right away. 10/10.
