My name is Izzy and I have worked as a teaching assistant in primary schools for 11 years, focusing mainly on EYFS and KS1. I have a Level 5 TEFL certificate and have used this to support EAL children with their English language learning.
I love working with children of all ages and am more than happy to assist with their English learning.

As a teacher I am very patient, speaking slowly and carefully and checking the student’s pronunciation and understanding. I am able to think of and present new ways of explaining a particular point should the student have difficulty in understanding.

Please book a trial lesson first so that I may meet you or your child to determine their level of English and what you would like to learn.
I am offering conversation lessons for adults where we can discuss a range of topics and I can introduce new vocabulary and do role play conversations.
For beginner level children I am offering phonics lessons to help with reading skills. I use flash cards, props, lots total physical response (TPR). They will learn basics greetings such as introducing themselves and greeting others.
My lessons are fun and relaxed and I am patient and give lots of praise!

The TEFL Academy - The TEFL Academy - 2019I studied through an online course consisting of 168 hours of study and a 20 hour classroom weekend session. I had to complete three assignments which consisted of creating lessons plans for various CEFR class levels. I achieved an overall grade of Distinction.

In fully immersive English lessons I taught the children basic greetings, counting, a range of adjectives and nouns and how to introduce themselves. This experience will help towards working with italki as I understand how to explain and communicate new words in a new language to students.

Teaching AssistantI was primarily based at Methwold primary school as a teaching assistant in the year 3/4 class, also supporting a Year 6 pupil with learning difficulties. I delivered interventions in phonics and maths and supported with teaching children to read.

Teaching AssistantI worked for a term at this school as a teaching assistant for a Year 3 class working solely with a group of 8 children, one EAL pupil, the rest with learning and behavioural difficulties. I also provided intervention sessions for a EAL pupil to assist with their learning of the English language.

Teaching AssistantI work in a Year 2 class providing reading, phonics and maths interventions for children within the class who have learning difficulties or who need extra support. Using my artistic skills from my continued art practice since graduating from art school, I also run an after school art club and organise art lessons to create work for display.
