Giovanni is a great teacher! He's encouraging, supportive, and very eager to help. He really goes out of his way to provide everything you need to succeed in learning Italian. Highly recommended!

Today we improved my understanding of prepositions which have been difficult for me. The lesson helped me better understand when to use what prepositions with which articles in a sentence.

As always we began with conversation that continued on the various themes we have recently been discussing. I am trying to create more complex structures to express more complex ideas so it is great to have Giovanni there to guide and correct me in a relaxed environment without any pressure of judgement/assessment. I still make mistakes, but language mastery is a long journey that is about commitment and not a supposed 'end point'. In this regard, Giovanni is a fantastic guide along that journey. I am a better language user for his help! In the second part, we continued with practice review of the past conditional. In a couple of weeks I will have a little more time on my hands so we may move on to something completely new.

Oggi abbiamo avuto una lezione emozionante! We looked at a homework that included pictures from my weekend, and Giovanni even shared some pictures for his life! This type of studying is fun because it gives great examples of typical conversations, and it makes me feel like Giovanni is a great friend instead of a teacher. Grazie Giovanni- a domani!

A larger part of today's lesson was dedicated to conversation where we discussed some impromptu topics. This was really beneficial as it required me to think quickly and create new constructions that I had not used before with vocabulary that I was not certain about. At this point, I have covered the grammatical fundamentals, so we discussed some strategies for future study focused on refinement, and more sophisticated and natural language use. Looking forward to future lessons where we can diversify our range of activities and I can maintain the language skills I have acquired so far. Maybe one day I will finally use the prepositions correctly!

Today was a more relaxed lesson. We reviewed some photos that Giovanni had taken and discussed them. Then we turned to finalising the review activities on ci and ne. Relaxed but still beneficial as Giovanni still guided me when I made errors or provided me with terminology, for example profondità di campo, discussing imagery. Looking forward to next week!
