Steff

Classes with Steff are a joy. I can be very timid, especially about making stupid mistakes in front of someone (and as a new learner, I make a lot of them!). This used to be terrifying for me. But I’ve found it’s really ok to make silly mistakes with Steff because he isn’t judging that. I never thought I’d say it, but sometimes now those mistakes are even fun because they lead to fits of laughter from both of us! These classes are a blast. My next class with Steff will be number 50, and I can see the progress I’ve made. I definitely couldn’t have done it on my own. He’s a great teacher - patient, easygoing, smart, helpful. He makes this fun. If you’re looking for all of that and more, he’s the one.

My lessons with Steff have been such a joy! He strikes a great balance between free-flowing conversation and correction, while offering super useful suggestions on word choice/formulations that have helped my German become more natural and idiomatic. Teaching online is so difficult, but Steff is able to foster the type of welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere that is ideal for language learning. Steff's lessons are highly personalized, and can be as structured or as spontaneous as you like. It has been a true pleasure working with him!!

As an advanced speaker, I have never been able to find a teacher where I learn as much as with Steff. Every class I leave with important corrections to my speech. After reaching a level where people could understand what I meant and would thus no longer correct me, I found it increasingly difficult to improve myself. Steff is not afraid to re-formulate almost everything you say, if you let him. If you are in a similar position, I highly recommend these lessons to become more fluent.

I've been taking lessons with Steff for several months. He is patient, kind, and fun, important qualities in a teacher. He’s a careful listener and provides constructive feedback. He gives suggestions on more natural ways to express myself. I make countless mistakes, sometimes the same mistakes I’ve already made, and I can become flustered by my errors. Yet Steff remains a calm and humorous influence and I tend to end up laughing over my German language missteps. I most enjoy that Steff teaches me how to speak German like a German. We don’t use canned textbook phrases so the language sounds more natural. Before taking classes with Steff, I took a three month course at the Goethe Institute. I have learned more in less time with Steff than I did in that course. I look forward to improving my German language skills and being able to have more complex discussions. Steff is an interesting person who doubtless has great stories to tell and can speak on many topics. Vielen Dank, Steff!
