AKI HAPPY

My weekly Happy Conversation lessons with Aki Sensei have become a really important part of my study routine. It’s funny how it works - on any given week I often feel like I’m struggling but I can look back to a few months ago and see how much progress I’ve made. Her infinite patience with my clumsy Japanese is much appreciated, and she always gives me enough time to work out what I want to say. She is clearly a gifted and experienced teacher and I’m really glad I found her on this site!

Today was the first lesson with Aki sensei, it was a great lesson! She prepared cards with different topics, such as: - If you could tell something to all people on the Earth, what it would be? - If you have a chance, would you go to the Mars? - What book made the biggest impression on you? I think its a great way to make lesson, every time we can pick different themes and discuss it. Your Japanese level will be improved much faster if you will speak on different themes everytime, in this way you can broad you vocabulary, and also you can heard what Sensei thinks about that, which is very interesting as we all have totally different backgrounds, and that that we can talk about anything online while studing language its just great. Thank you Aki-sensei, looking forward to the next lesson with you!

Today’s conversation lesson with Aki Sensei was a lot of fun as usual. As my skills have slowly improved these lessons keep getting even more enjoyable. We talked about many different topics today, and our weekly conversations are slowly starting to be more like a real conversation and less like a language learning exercise. I always appreciate that she makes me feel comfortable enough to try to say complicated things that I might not otherwise have the courage to attempt. Making mistakes is part of the learning process, and being able to make those mistakes has really helped me improve my confidence and skills 😃

Aki-Sensei is an excellent teacher. She is attentive to the student and makes the lesson fun and engaging. She also made sure to communicate very well before the day of lesson to get to know a little about my daughter and made the lesson fun for her. Thank you so much! If you book with this teacher, you will not be disappointed! We will book again.

Today’s lesson was a lot of fun! Lately I’ve been trying to “level up” my vocabulary by learning more N3/N2 level words, and it was fun to try to use them today in conversation. It didn’t always go well and I got stuck a few times in topics where I lacked enough vocabulary, but I always appreciate Aki Sensei’s patient approach where I feel encouraged to try and not worry so much about mistakes. In the end we got to talk more about societal issues and work related topics than usual, which will be helpful as I try to ramp up into JLPT preparation time.

Thanks to Aki Sensei, today’s lesson was a lot of fun. I was a little nervous when the lesson started because I didn’t think I had anything interesting to talk about today, but we had a great conversation regardless. I will forever be impressed with Aki Sensei’s patience with listening to my slow and error-filled Japanese, but somehow she is always able to figure out what I’m trying to say, provide gentle corrections to the worst of my errors, and keep me talking and practicing new words and grammar. With an otherwise heavy focus on JLPT preparation lately, these types of Happy Conversation lessons are exactly what I need in my weekly routine and Aki Sensei is a perfect fit for me 😃
