My name is Fathiyya Refky. I am a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Egypt. I live in Cairo and I work at a language center in Historical Cairo, a place where you can smell the breeze of Egyptian history and culture.Показать перевод

In my classes, I use various resources to help you achieve your learning goals effectively. Together, we will enjoy Arabic texts, videos, infographics, and audio materials - all in real-life contexts.
I believe that it is useful to integrate the four language skills; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. However, if the learner needs to focus on a specific skill, I can definitely offer the necessary support.
My Arabic classes are enriched with interesting cultural content. Assessments are also relevant and effective. I give different kinds of feedback; oral and written, and I encourage my students to reflect on their own work.

My goal is to help students achieve their learning goals. Whether you are learning Arabic as a hobby or for study or work purposes, I will definitely give you the support you need. I customize lessons to according to your preferences and continuous feedback, and I guide you through the learning process.
I encourage my learners to develop useful learning strategies, e.g. creating vocabulary lists, and to share their learning preferences with me. I aim to motivate learners develop a positive Arabic learning mindset, where learners and teachers contribute to a fruitful learning experience.

Магистр - MA TAFL (masters of Teaching Arabic as a foreign language)In this degree, I study courses about language acquisition, teaching methodology, research methods, and of course the Arabic language in terms of grammar, phonetics, etc... The academic study is always paired with hands-on training and teaching practice. Therefore every semester, I work as a teaching assistant of Arabic under the guidance of the AUC professors, often giving one-to-one classes to supplement the main courses given by the professors.

Teaching Assistant of ArabicUnder the Fulbright FLTA program offered by the American Embassy, I worked as a teaching assistant of Arabic at Bethany College, West Virginia. My job duties included:
Teaching Arabic as a foreign language to college students;
Working as a cultural ambassador, getting American students to know about Arab culture;
Organizing and taking part in various cultural events and shows on campus and outside;
Attending classes on linguistics and teaching.

I teach English courses to Al-Azhar University students, including general English, Academic English. I also offer training for students to enter Cambridge exams, e.g. KET, PET, and CAE.

اتعلم اللغة العربية مع فتحية منذ أربعة أسابيع وأستطيع أن أقول إنها ممتازة جدا بتعليمها. تجهز كل دروسنا تفضيلا وهي دائما جاهزة لأسئلتي الصعبة. كان عندي حتى الآن اكثر من 20 أستاذ للغة العربية ولكن لا من مثل فتحية! شكرا لمساعدتك وأراك قريبا جدا إن شاء الله.

Fathiyya is a fantastic instructor! I am learning Arabic from scratch, and her lessons have given me a strong foundation in the basics of the language so far. I really appreciate the way our lessons are structured; I always come away from lessons with a wealth of new material. I would definitely recommend learning Arabic with Fathiyya!
