I highly highly recommend Shelmith as a teacher! She is very kind and patient, an effective communicator in both languages, and does a great job at explaining concepts between English and Swahili. When we started I didn't know any Swahili at all and now I feel comfortable having very basic conversations within a few short months. She is a great teacher!!

She is sooo nice and she took the time to get to know me and my learning needs. I’m so excited to learn Swahili from her!! I’m a very loud person and can be very energetic and she didn’t make me feel out of place at all! Definitely going to stick with her on my journey 🥰

I had a trial session with Shelmith and came away with a very positive impression. She was friendly, patient, and easy to talk to from the start. Rather than rushing into a lesson, we spent the session discussing my goals, her teaching approach, and how the lessons would be structured. I actually preferred this, as it gave me confidence that she had taken the time to understand what I wanted to achieve and how she could tailor the lessons to suit me. She explained everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and outlined a structured approach to learning Swahili. By the end of the session, I felt confident that I was in capable hands and motivated to begin the learning journey with her.

My Family and I feel so fortunate to have found italki and then on top of that to have found a great teacher who not only is an excellent teacher but also my daughter loved and is looking forward to learn from during the next class. Been Kenyan born and raised,I speak broken Swahili and every attempt I have made in teaching my daughter who is American born Swahili has failed. I found italki online and found Miss Weru ,loved her intro and my daughter immediately picked her .During class we had technical difficulties and she was so patient with us and even helped us troubleshoot,I thought since lesson time had passed that she wouldn’t teach but she still taught her,We are so excited to be on this journey and to have some consistency with the same loving teacher.I could tell right away it was going be great and I can finally practice with my daughter.She doesn’t even want a play date on Saturday morning coz she is looking forward to learning Swahili. I hope this app lasts a long time!
