Summertime Vocabulary (and some cultural notes about England too!)

WEATHER 
Cultural note: The average high in the south of England in the summer in around 20c, however, the weather is unpredictable and on occasion, temperatures can reach around 30c during a heatwave. 

In the summer, it's  absolutely ______________  in the smaller classrooms that don’t have many windows or any fans, let alone air conditioning. 


Cultural Note: Living in England, most people love it when the sun shines and they have the opportunity to get out in the sun and let their skin go brown. Sunbathing is popular and the beaches and parks are packed.

She came back from Spain with a  ______. She was so brown! But, it’s only been a week and her _____ is already fading. 

We’re enjoying a heatwave at the moment and crowds are expected flock to the beach and ______ in the sun this weekend. 

If the sun gets too much, you can sit in the __________ over there under that tree. 

During a heatwave, it’s important to stay hydrated and, while drinking water will certainly help, some people like to crack open a __________ bottle of beer. Personally, I prefer to _________ my thirst with a juice.
