Why “Actually” Is One of the Most Useful Words in Spoken English Learners often avoid disagreeing because they don’t want to sound rude. Here’s the secret: native speakers disagree all the time but softly. One of the most common tools we use is the word “actually.” 1) To correct someone politely A: “You’re Spanish, right?” B: “Actually, I’m from Mexico.” 2) To gently introduce a different opinion “I actually think the movie was pretty good.” 3) To add surprising or clarifying information “I’ve actually been studying English for 5 years.” 4) To soften a “no” “Actually, I’m not available tomorrow.” Notice the pattern? You’re disagreeing… without being direct or aggressive. Pro tip: If you want to sound more natural, don’t wait for perfect grammar. Use small, powerful words like “actually” to manage tone. If you want more posts like this, let me know and I’ll share another common “softening” phrase next week.

In my opinion,gas-powered cars are the main reason that increases greenhouse gases. As more and more carbon dioxide relases into the air, the earth will quickly become an actual greenhouse. The hot weathers around the world have let some people realized that we must find some solutions to solve this problem. However, most people still think that this is not a big deal. They still enjoy their life by doing something which increase air pollution, including drving their cars around. I really thank for my country where government make a lot of effort to lead people to buy electric cars instead of gas-powered cars. So, I dont think that it's effective to reduce air pollution by appealing people not to drive cars for only one day. We have been told to prevent our world from being destoryed by greenhouse gases for many year, but how many countries or people actually did something for it? Some people still enjoy the sound waves from the engines, then get into a house with air conditions.

A lot of people have asked me "What is the secret to language learning?" In my opinion there isn't a one way of learning a language. However , there are multiple tools at our disposal now a days. Such as teachers on iTalki, podcasts, apps, books, Anki, and many more. My biggest recommendation is to link your passions with language learning. I myself enjoy weight lifting and I have found a lot of content in social media and youtube in both Egyptian Arabic and Tagalog. When you make these connections with things you are already fond of as well as things you have a strong comprehensive knowledge in your first language, it helps you by essentially giving your brain a cheat sheet. You know what they are talking about but all you need to do is connect the dots. This same thing applies to watching your favorite movie or TV shows dubbed in your desired language. I've watched Wednesday countless times in Egyptian Arabic and now I can start to make connections with the vocabulary I am learning and what I know is happening in the show.

Hello my name is Salvador Manzo and I am from California. For anyone interested on how Black Friday is in the USA, it has calmed down a lot but I recall a time during my adolescence when Black Friday was THE TIME to shop. I recall a time when my aunt, my cousins, my sister, and I lined up outside a Kohl’s. Khol's is essentially a large department store. At that time, they were offering really good deals to the first 100 customers in line aside from sales going on in the store. My aunt had us leave Thanksgiving dinner and get ready to go to the outlets (a discount shopping center). We decided to show up at about 3am and we saw a large crowd. At about 3:30am the parking lot lights lit up and there was a storm of people waiting for the store to open. at 4:00am when the store opened it's doors, everyone was screaming to get in and yelling at those in the parking lot to go in line. I recall people running once inside as if Indiana Jone's had hidden a treasure inside. It was an interesting experience that I had with my family. I remember people having their carts filled to the brim as if they were buying the whole store in their carts.
