课程描述

Why do humans love to be frightened? Long before modern entertainment, people gathered around fires in the dark to share ghost stories, warn each other about monsters, and explain the unexplainable through superstitions. Even in our modern, scientific world, spooky stories, strange urban legends, and cultural myths remain more popular than ever. Once, these stories could be heard throughout the year. In recent times, however, they have become strongly linked to the autumn season and the time of Halloween. This 4-week October discussion course invites you into the fascinating world of mystery, fear psychology, and global folklore. Rather than doing boring grammar drills or reading long texts, you will practice the art of storytelling, share your culture’s unique legends, and debate why the human mind loves the thrill of the unknown. Connect with international peers in a lively, supportive setting where your voice takes center stage. Why do people like to watch horror movies or put themselves in “safe but scary” situations? What are some strange things that people believe despite all the evidence against them being true? Why do people believe in luck? Why are stories of ghosts or spirits so common? Why didn’t these things disappear with modern technology? Little preparation is expected for this course outside of the four classes. Who is this course for: - Learners who have to improve their fluency, expand natural vocabulary, and express nuanced thoughts without feeling lost or bogged down in academic jargon. - Students looking to practice their English skills through discussions where you share real-life perspectives and debate interesting cultural questions. - Anyone who prefers engaging, live conversation practice over reading homework or traditional grammar exercises. - Anyone who loves the autumn season, the supernatural, and spooky things.
