Democracy, the system celebrated by the modern West as the fairest form of government. But is it still functioning as intended?
Should elected leaders follow the public’s will, or act according to their own judgment? Do political dynasties like the Bush, Kennedy, and Clinton families strengthen democracy, or expose its hypocrisy? And how can nations make long-term decisions when power changes hands every few years?
In this class, we’ll debate whether democracy truly represents the people, or simply replaces monarchy with marketing.
